Civil War Soldiers Buried in Riverside Cemetery Maumee, Ohio

Riverside Cemetery was founded in the mid 1800s and has its share of bad luck. Located on the banks of the Maumee River the cemetery has flooded several times and had severe ice damage. In early 1900s the ice damage was so bad only a few markers remained unscathed. Most were broken, moved within the cemetery and some missing altogether. A couple of veterans from the Mitchell Post repaired what they could. Most of the markers were in very bad shape and needed some attention so in 2004 I took on the project to save the markers. In all 15 needed replaced and 15 need reset. I even came across a Revolutionary Soldier, Joshua St. Clair, who's son was the first doctor in Maumee Daniel St. Clair. This is a city run cemetery and Maumee has been very helpful in this project and what it is doing for the community. I have listed all of the Civil War Veterans buried in Riverside Cemetery. ** indicates a new military marker was installed
